We live in a great time, possibly the greatest era the Earth has ever known. Today there are more opportunities to have a forum than ever before. In this section we hope to address subjects of interest in the social arena, political spectrum, and in religious circles, of course. If you have questions you would like to have addressed, feedback on our topics, or just two cents to add, contact us at faithful@pennswoods.net. Happy blogging!
Dealing with False Doctrine It is really troubling to me to see what is going on in the Body of Christ. It isn't something new, but we have less excuse than the church of old had. Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, asked the Galations, has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth?" There is today a vast number of people who have perverted or abandoned the truth all together. They are buying into False Doctrine at an alarming rate. Here are some of the things I have run into in just the past few months: Israel replacement theology - where Israel has been rejected and no longer has any hope of salvation. Dual Covenant theology - where Jews are able to receive salvation via the Old Covenant and need not accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior to make heaven. Neo-Judaism - which is a return to the Jewish feasts and celebrations in order to be properly aligned to the original plan for the Kingdom of God. Two Witnesses - a doctrine that touts someone living today as one or both of the end times witnesses talked of in the Book of Revelation. Universalism - though not a new approach to theology, it is a broad inclusion of all who live as being heirs to the promises of God no matter what God they worship or what path they choose. Legalism - a return to the mandates of the Levitical laws in appearance, diet, and rite, but usually not in accountability and judgement. The Old New Testament - where the penalties and judgements of the Old Testament are poured out on the Christian in abundance. The Satanic Pawn - in this Satan is just a pawn of God to try control mankind, punishing the sinner and manipulating the believer.
There are far more out there, but these have been jammed in my face just recently. I'd like to address them all in depth, but I really need another venue to do that. Meet me at our family forum and you can get my take on each as I post them.
See The Warning Signs Are you tired of the Presidential Campaign yet? I can't remember when it seemed so long. Add to that the frustration that goes with being a moral, social, and fiscal conservative and you could be stressing over the current conditions. What is a Christian to do in days like these? Before we go to running around proclaiming that the sky is falling or hole up in a cave on a mountainside, let's think about the setting in which Jesus lived. Jesus didn't get to vote for those who led His society, as a matter of fact, Rome appointed or approved every person who serve in a government position. All were appointed and served "at the convenience of the Emperor." When you stopped being of value, you were fired, if you were lucky. Taxes were not like ours today. The State set the base rate and each level of government added their margin to it. The Tax Collector then added his cut and that was the tax you paid. If you dared rebel, they might just kill you and take everything you own to pay your tax. No matter who wins in the Fall, you can see that the cost of living life is going up. We have a war to pay for, and God bless the soldiers who have laid it all on the line in service to their country. Those are dollars well spent. If the Democrats win you and I will see more money going out of our pockets for health-care. It may or may not be optional depending on whether or not there is anyone to stand up for us, but either way we will have less in our pocket. Gas prices, food prices, and every other price is going to go up, but that is just life. We have got to see the warning signs of what's ahead and prepare accordingly. - GET OUT OF DEBT.
- Stop spending more than you make.
- Be prepared to make changes.
- Draw close to God and pay close attention to what He tells you.
- Let your giving set your standard of living.
Election 2008 Electioneering for the 2008 season is in full swing with new candidates declaring, weak candidates dropping out, and potential candidates debating their options. No matter who you think would make a great leader, the fact is they may never have a chance unless you do something about their candidacy. There are a number of things you can do: Your greatest power lies in your right to vote. Do not neglect the responsibility, and use your power wisely. Get involved in the process. You can be a poll worker, help get people registered to vote, or at least get educated for the battle ahead. Volunteer to help the candidate you support in getting the word out to your community, being a poll worker, or in support of the campaign offices.
Whatever you do, do something. Get involved, and demonstrate your citizenship by being one of those who set the course of history for our community and our country. Something to think about ... less than 25% of those eligible to vote determine the outcome of the Presidential election. Will you be a history maker?
